Self-presentation:
Pointless Creations is a Glasgow based audio-visual artists’ collective providing animated graphics, video installations and performances for clubs, art festivals, theatre productions, free parties and other public events.
The organisation grew out of the Radar sound system and we remain involved with the techno/electro scene with a taste for bold graphics, dark humour and minimal/industrial aesthetics.
Pointless Creations are David Bernard (F, 1971), Will Adams (UK, 1975), Geraldine Greene (UK,1975), Jay-Go Bloom (UK, 1972), FiST (UK, 1978), with other regular contributors.
Our combined background in graphic design, video production, 2D and 3D Animation, set design, experimental music performance and instrument design, has enabled us to develop a dynamic video performance style using a specially designed instrument: The Video Switchboard, a physical controller for video sampler software. Tight and rhythmical Switchboard manipulations have become the trademark of the Pointless performances, either as solo audiovisual sets or in combinations with musicians or performers.
Our installations make use of images as building blocks to create 3 dimensional environments with light during our performances using video and slide projections for our unique rotating cube screens which encourage playful interaction with the audience.
Pointless Creations has performed live audio-visual and VJ sets over 100 times since 1998, including appearances at European festivals such as Bochum videofestival, Glasgow International, Pixelache, D-Form, AVIT, Break2.2, Machinista, & Robodock.
Our installations have been showcased internationally by theatre companies, such as Wayward and Blueboat,. We have provided large screens setups for multi-media events (Govan Gathering Light, Futuresonic) and have been long-term visual residents at the Glasgow School of Art. We are currently developing visuals for the Bassline Circus.
Pointless Creations co-produced the acclaimed Machinista 2004 festival, including the freely downloadable “Full Screen Robovision” DVD.
