usb multicam (2 x PS3 eye) problems !!

Postby Lieven » Mon Jul 20, 2009 4:15 pm

Hi,
I recentely downloaded the demo version of arkaos vj midi 3.6.1 FC2 for mac and now want to by it! I did some testing with a USB cam (Playstation3 eye) which I already had and bought me today a second one. When I connect them, Arkaos recognizes them both. The first one I select always works but when I select the second one, Arkaos crashes! I'm shure there is nothing wrong with the cameras because when I restart Arkaos en first select the second on, he also works fine. Of course when I select back the first on, Arkaos crashes again.
I did some research on the other topics, but the problems there where related to multiple firewire cameras or multiple usb cams from a different type.
Is it possible that its because my two PS3 eye cams uses the same driver ?? It would be a pity to switch over to other usb cams with other drivers because the quality of the ps3 eyes are spectaculair !
any advise would be great!

regards,
Lieven

hi Lieven,

I,m having the same problem, I am using 2 playstaion 2 eyetoys and I too seem to have the same problem. I use two different eyetoys thou. One is a logitech and the other one is a namtai (two different drivers used). You are right the eyetoys are very clear and the drivers are easy to get. plus its a really good way to get cheap cameras, I bought mine in a Gamestop shop for only 10 Euro. I have used just the one in one of my shows and its works great! but it would be great to use the two of them.

Any help for me too?

Just git this working by clicking on the bandwith icon and killing the process which was taking up the most bandwith. This disabled a couple of my USB ports but got it working. Now the only problem is arkaos crashes on exit after using the 2 eyetoys. I can live with that however!
